Common questions

What counts as a "bus" for pricing purposes?
A bus is any active vehicle with an assigned route in RouteMind. Buses that are inactive or not currently assigned to routes don't count toward your plan total. You can add or remove buses at any time and your bill adjusts automatically.
Do drivers pay anything to use the app?
No. The driver app is completely free to download from the App Store and Google Play. Drivers never pay anything. Only the bussing company pays — based on how many buses are in their fleet.
Do parents need to pay or download anything?
No. Parents receive SMS notifications automatically — no app download, no account, no cost to them. The coordinator sends each parent a unique signup link and they opt in with one tap. It just works on any phone.
What happens after the 14-day trial?
Your account pauses automatically — no charge. All your routes, drivers, and data are preserved. You pick a plan and add a payment method when you're ready to continue. No pressure, no hidden fees.
Can I switch plans as my fleet grows?
Yes. Plans are based on fleet size, so as you add buses you'll automatically move to the appropriate tier. You can also manually upgrade at any time. Downgrading follows the same logic at your next billing cycle.
Is there a contract or minimum commitment?
No contracts, ever. Monthly plans can be cancelled anytime before your next billing date. Annual plans are paid upfront for a 20% discount — if you need to cancel early, we'll work something out. We'd rather keep you than lose you over a policy.
What does "dedicated onboarding" mean on the Scale plan?
We'll schedule a live session with you to set up your first routes, import your driver roster, and make sure everything is running before you go live. For larger fleets, getting started right the first time matters — so we do it together.
Does RouteMind require any hardware?
None. Drivers use their personal smartphones — iOS or Android. Coordinators use any web browser. Parents use any phone for SMS. There are no GPS devices, no tablets, no hardware costs of any kind.
